Rail Planning – Orlando International Airport
As a
member of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority's General
Consultant team, Mr. Paredes was involved in examining the
proposed rail route throughout the airport’s property,
established a rail station location, and developed a
preliminary
conceptual program for future rail
stations .
He also examined proposals for concurrence with South
Terminal Complex Concept Report as well as their roadway and
airfield impact.
Goals of
the programming effort include:
-
To
provide a document basis for detailed programming and
schematic design in a later phase and to provide
recommendations and criteria for facility planning and
design.
-
To
provide design guidelines and planning parameters in
adherence to the established Airport Design Standard.
-
To
provide supporting materials in the areas of feasibility,
and environmental impact as part of an overall picture of
design objectives.
-
To
provide a credible basis for design and cost estimates,
including a breakdown of spaces and sizes to accommodate
the functional requirements of each station.
-
To
support planning meetings with the airport operator and
regional transportation planners.
- To
study the unique intermodal aspects of the station,
particularly at International Drive, and to establish
precedents and guidelines in the application of intermodal
travel.
